BSLDB meeting report April 2018
Back in June we launched the Burton Street Learning Difficulties Board (BSLDB).
It was a big change in the way The Burton Street Foundation works, and a very exciting step for the organisation. Miss the original blog? Click here to read it! The latest report can be found below.
The board met ahead of the board of trustees meeting. We continue to meet monthly to discuss all matters relating to Burton Street. The focus is on what matters to clients with learning disabilities.
The general opinion is that everything is okay! But sometimes, just sometimes we do need space to have a grumble about things. This board is the place to do it, so they did!
The things that caused the grumbles have now been solved, but the board feels confident they are able to tell Burton Street management things they we weren’t aware of!
Things to note are that many clients wish to do sessions outside. We're all waiting for the weather to sort itself out so we can make this happen. Everyone is getting excited about Burton's Got Talent, the buzz is definitely starting.
All the members are working on something that they have decided to look at and at our next meeting some things will be put in action. A group voice is stronger than one on its own! Watch this space….
A massive well done to Zara, Elaine, Angi, Josh and Martin for heading this board, and for Burton Street Trustee Edna in supporting it. Having the voice of our clients is so very important for us to listen, change and make Burton Street better for all.
