Leadership
Clare Mappin
Clare joined Burton Street Foundation in 2010. In 2012, she became Operations Director, responsible for all external users, including business tenants and community groups, as well as all facilities departments. Clare succeeded Dave Clarson as Managing Director in January 2015 after working closely together for five years.
Andy Beeston
Andy joined Burton Street in 2001, rising to Senior Manager in 2013. He oversees services our disability services, implements legislation, manages health partnerships, and supervises students. Andy is also responsible for all our new client referrals. Andy holds an NVQ level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health and Social Care.
Helen Bark
Helen joined Burton Street in June 2003 to manage finances, leveraging over 35 years of experience in finance and payroll. She holds a qualification in Frontline Management, and continues to build on the already robust financial systems of the organisation to make them clearer and more efficient.
Katherine Torr
Katherine joined Burton Street in 2014. She is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources including recruitment, induction, performance management and compliance. Katherine is also responsible for Health & Safety across the site. Katherine has worked in a variety of roles in HR since 1994.
Colin Bulmer
A varied career from managing steelworks to occupational therapy & case management services. Colin joined us in 2020 as Senior Manager. Colin has NVQ Level 5 & co-manages Adult Services, plus our Children’s services contracts & referrals. Colin is also one of our mental health first aiders and prides himself on supporting all our staff.
Meet Our Trustees
Jenny Pupius
Burton Street Chair of Trustees, Jenny, has actively participated in community enterprises for many years. As a trustee at Burton Street, Jenny remains committed to community and social enterprise development. She enjoys walking in the Peak District, quilting, ballroom dancing and spending time with her grandchildren
Phillip Bullivant
Phillip has been a Trustee since Nov 2019. At present, he is the secretary for BSF. His working life was spent in the law in the public, private & industry sectors, as well as advising on risk & compliance in domestic conveyancing. Philip also worked for Sheffield City Council for many years prior to retirement.
Jane Woollons
Jane volunteers at Burton Street and she’s member of Friends of Burton Street too. She previously taught PE, Health & Social Care, was a Head of Year and Key Stage Manager in 3 Sheffield secondary schools for 38 years. Jane has volunteered in Burton Street’s café & catering departments for the past decade. She became a trustee in 2015.
John Dawson
John is Head of Market Development & Investment at Co-operatives UK. His experience includes business planning & investment assessment for community & social enterprises nationally. John worked with BSF to secure investment from Power to Change for the Bamforth Building redevelopment in 2015.
Patrick Fairclough
Patrick is a father of two, and has a son at Burton Street and a daughter studying in Manchester. With 30 years in academia, he hopes to help Burton Street with grant writing. Patrick, an engineering academic, plans to reduce bills and carbon footprint through energy efficiency.
Victoria Wish
Vicky works for the University of Sheffield as part of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team. Prior to this she spent 15 years as a Primary/Early Years teacher. Vicky joined us in 2023 and is enjoying being a trustee at Burton Street Foundation. Vicky lives locally with her husband and daughter. Her current hobbies are sewing, crochet and baking.
Jane Temple
Jane moved to Sheffield with her family in 2006. She recently retired from working in Special Care Dentistry, during which she focused on advocating for patients & their families who faced healthcare barriers due to additional needs to increase their access to healthcare. Jane really enjoys volunteering at BSF & seeing firsthand the dedication of the team.
Jemma Smedley
Jemma moved to Sheffield in 2012 where she trained as LD Nurse at Sheffield Hallam. As a student nurse, Jemma had a placement with BSF and always thought of the experience here fondly. As an LD Nurse she has a keen interest in addressing health inequalities and early intervention, and hopes to bring this passion and experience into her work as a trustee.
Edna Iggo
Born in Walkley in 1937, Edna is an Honorary Trustee. After retiring from the Post Office, she served as a governor at Walkley and Myers Grove schools. Edna has been a Burton St trustee for many years and is very interested in everything about Burton St and the community. She also founded our tea dance and a forum for vulnerable adults.
