Make a Difference Every Day

Are you ready for the most fulfilling job of your life?

Join our team at Burton Street Foundation: an ever-growing community hub in Sheffield that welcomes over 250 wonderful clients. We’re on the lookout for caring people who are passionate about supporting adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health conditions and autism.

As a Support Worker in our Adult Services team, you’ll help create meaningful experiences through art, music, sports, drama, dancing, writing, learning together, games, domestic skills and BIG events (we have many – our clients love them!).

Your goal? To boost confidence and enjoyment among our clients, encourage self-expression, and inspire them that everyone has a part to play – our guiding motto. Oh, and we want you to have lots of fun too!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support adults in creative group sessions. We have Film Crew, Dance Your Socks Off, Lunch Bunch, Campfire Stories, Drama Llama, Talent Show, Art Beat, Radio Burton Street… too many to list!
  • Support adults in the community – the world is truly yours
  • Use creative activities to promote wellbeing, fun, learning and inclusion
  • Help build independence, confidence and communication
  • Provide emotional, behavioural and physical support
  • Be a consistent, caring presence; a special person in our clients’ lives

You’ll Be Great If You Have:

  • Experience supporting people with PMLD, mental health conditions and/or autism – although this is not essential as full training will be given. Compassion and reliability are most important.
  • Proven creative skills– whether that’s in art, music, sport or other fields
  • Emotional intelligence, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • The flexibility to work some evenings and weekends

Desirable but not essential: creative arts qualifications, or NVQs in Health & Social Care

Why Work Here?

  • Join a friendly, welcoming and genuinely values-led team with the highest standards of care
  • Enjoy working in a community-first organisation that puts people first – including you
  • Competitive pay that increases with time in the role
  • Work in a fun, colourful, dynamic environment (or chilled-out relaxing space if you’re in one of our sensory zones) where no two days are the same!
