Established in 1995, Burton Street Foundation is still expanding, taking on wonderful new clients and the best support workers around. This summer saw the arrival of no less than 13 new clients who, judging by their smiles and laughter, are all having the time of their lives. We also brought on board 8 new support workers.

Among them is the super-skilled Jenny, who has settled in brilliantly and can be regularly seen helping clients with her warm, uplifting energy. We managed to corner her for a quick chat…

So what made you apply to join Burton Street Foundation?

The reputation! I worked for another company that supports people with learning disabilities and autism, and I wanted to gain experience of day services. In the past, I’ve done home support, community integration, supported living, supported holidays too.

What do you think of Burton Street so far?

I love it. It’s amazing to see how supportive everyone is of each other —not just the staff, but clients help each other too. Everyone seems to have a lot of fun… sometimes too much! It’s great to see our guiding motto ‘Everyone Has A Part To Play’ in action.

What do you like doing in your spare time?

Gardening, listening to music, chess, some scuba diving. Oh and I love a good murder mystery…
